Under starters orders......
What a difference a month makes, since our last blog in January, when we talked about snuggling up on those dark evenings and drooling over garden catalogues, and considering getting on the bike, suddenly we are out and actioning those ideas that we’ve spent the winter dreaming about - beSPOKE cycling weekends, cycle wash stations, pre Christmas activity weekends, room makeovers, cutting flower patches and and and .......
ON YOUR BIKE OR TWO FEET -
Our accommodation here at The Lone Barn, is suitable for everyone, as we are so well situated for cyclists and walkers, we want to be able to offer guests somewhere practical as well as gorgeous to come back to after a day out on the roads and paths. With that as our remit, Paul is busy designing and constructing a cycle wash station, secure bike storage, boot cleaning areas and dry maintenance zones where you can tinker with your bikes if the mood takes you, all ready for August 2018. He has also been out and about on his bike, sussing routes for our new
CYCLING WEEKENDS using The Lone Barn as a base to return to each night, available to book from April to start in September. So excited to be offering these unique weekends for those who just would like to turn up and have everything fully organised down to where to stop for coffee! Don't worry we won’t keep you under suspence for long, keep an eye out for our March blog for more details.
ACTIVE OR RESTING everyone loves a sumptuous home to come back to whether you spent the day in the garden reading or been active out and about, so I've been planning makeovers and having fun putting mood boards together for our Spoke and Pedlars rooms in the Stables Cottage and our Ramble room in the main house - which will be available for bed and breakfast alongside our Tandem and Striders rooms from June. (Loving our newly branded rooms).
We have already been thinking ahead for next Winter too, (see what I mean, our heads have been busy), we are planning
ACTIVITY WEEKENDS, fully planned weekends with something to tempt everyone for a pre Christmas gathering amongst friends. Again we shall have further details to tempt you in our March blog.
OUTSIDE - Paul has been keeping busy and me happy by constructing some lovely new raised beds, ready to take my cutting flower ideas for the summer ahead, so I have lots to fill the rooms and cottage with for guests. Even trees have been lopped to give our garden some more light and taken the bull by the horns as they say and removed our conifer hedge to give our holly hedge behind it the chance to take over, it’s so different, I don’t recognise it myself! We feel privileged to have such a delightful garden, we are no experts and we simply give it a go and see what happens, yes, lots of work, but goodness when it works the rewards are great.
There is lots to plan and action over the next month, plus a trip North of the border - which we can never resist for some R and R, so we are ready to come back all guns blazing, as they say, it’s all about balance in more ways than one, sign up to our blog so you don't miss out on all our news and exciting plans..........
